Domenica prossima, 19 gennaio, Annaviva ricorda con una campagna-lampo sui social media la giornalista Anastasija Baburova e l’avvocato Stanislav Markelov, assassinati a Mosca cinque anni fa. Invitiamo tutti a pubblicare brevi messaggi su Facebook e Twitter, usando gli hashtag #Baburova e #Markelov. Per non dimenticare che cosa significa, ancora oggi, impegnarsi in Russia per la libertà di informazione e la difesa dei diritti civili.
Milano, 17 gennaio 2014 – Cinque anni fa (il 19 gennaio 2009) morivano a Mosca, vittime di un agguato, Anastasija Baburova e Stanislav Markelov. La Baburova, giornalista di origini ucraine praticante presso il giornale “Novaja Gazeta”, a soli 25 anni era considerata l’erede di Anna Politkovskaja. Markelov era un avvocato di 34 anni, paladino dei diritti civili in Russia. Insieme stavano indagando sulle violenze compiute da Jurij Budanov, ufficiale russo condannato per crimini di guerra. Dopo un frettolosa indagine, furono condannati per il duplice omicidio due membri di un gruppo neonazista, rei confessi. Permangono però forti dubbi sul reale movente dell’attentato e sui mandanti. Complice il silenzio di Vladimir Putin e di Dmitrij Medvedev, l’assassinio di Anastasija e Stanislav rischia di rimanere uno dei tanti casi di giustizia sommaria messi a tacere dai tribunali russi.
Dal 1993 in Russia sono stati uccisi o fatti scomparire oltre 300 giornalisti, secondo quanto documentato dalla International Federation of Journalists. Per quasi nessuno di questi crimini le indagini hanno portato all’individuazione di mandanti ed esecutori.
Annaviva invita tutti a ricordare Anastasija e Stanislav pubblicando brevi messaggi su Facebook e Twitter, e condividendo tutti i contributi sul tema che appariranno domenica prossima (articoli, post, link a risorse online,…) Una campagna a colpi di tweet, condivisioni, aggiornamenti di stato, SMS, messaggi di WhatsApp, tutti con gli hashtag #Baburova e #Markelov.

Let us not forget the struggle of the people fighting for freedom of information and civil rights in Russia.
Milan, January 17th, 2014 – Five years ago (on January 19th, 2009) Stanislav Markelov and Anastasia Baburova were murdered in Moscow. Baburova – a 25 years old Ukrainian journalist, practitioner at the newspaper “Novaya Gazeta” – was considered the heir of Anna Politkovskaya. Markelov was a 34 years old lawyer, championing for civil rights in Russia. Together they were investigating the violence carried out by Yuri Budanov, a Russian officer convicted of war crimes. After a cursory investigation, two members of a neo-Nazi group, who confessed, were convicted for the double murder. However, there are serious doubts about the real motive and the mandators of the attack. Thanks to the silence of Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev, the murder of Stanislav and Anastasia is likely to remain one of the many cases of summary justice silenced by the Russian courts.
Since 1993 in Russia over 300 journalists were killed or made to disappear, as documented by the International Federation of Journalists. For very few of these crimes investigations led to the identification of instigators and perpetrators.
